RM3250 + 192 boosters = RM5170 not including rental (which i hear is in the thousands), salary for manpower, rental of chairs and tables, it's almost 10K in operational costs.

Decards needs pretty much about 200 players to join the tournament to just break even.

Think about it, eh? ^^;

aiyah standard la ppl who never organise tournament before how would they know the costs involved? Lol got big tournament to play oso got ppl complain? So smart do ur own tournament la lol. Short sighted ppl who obviously failed in math would never know the costs involved in a big tourney. All they see is mostly the measly rm 50 that they put in lol. Chairs and tables will fall from the sky, people and judges will work for free, and venues will not be charged eh?. Lmao relatively new poster i wonder from which competitor shop once again try to sabo as always. dare to state ur name? Unlike me i got balls. Ppl know who i am, and im not afraid to shoot when im right.

@lynx -

oh, no no. The event will be at the mall concourse area. Need to pay 4 digit rental just even for a day (or so I heard, at least). Extra chairs tables man power and everything else also extra. So yea, this is on top of the regular operational costs, i would think.

Taiko summit space rental is not cheap. Depending on the space (concourse is the most exp) ur using be prepared to pay between 1k to 10k. I know concourse is already 5k to start. That does not include chairs and table rental. The tables supplied by summit are not long and wide enough.

space rental - 1 to 2k
prizes and cash - 5k
part timers and judges - 500

Easily anything between 6k to 8k for such a tourney. The min to break even or to have minimal losses is probably 120 ppl onwards.

So its sad when i hear ppl complain that the prizes are misleading, when a lot of planning and effort is put through to have another big tourney for the magic community.

hi ben yap, my name is Ken Lim. I say that it is misleading because when I first see the title the first impression I get is there is RM5k cash for the prizes. I did not say the prize is not big, even with RM3250 cash it is big and impressive, and most probably you will see me there trying to grab some prize also. But putting 5K open is just misleading people to think there is 5k cash prize for the 1st impression, and I believe there is other ppl get that impression other than me.

Yes there are many ways to name a tournament. Since the operation cost is near to 10k, might as well put 10K open. And you can still use the same explanation to everyone that it is not misleading.

A simple and honest opinion, and you could come out with so many insults and flames, saying that I am short sighted, know nothing, trying to sabo?

Once again my name is Ken Lim Wai Keat, I don't care if people know you but I am sure your ego is too high here.

You do have a point, Ken.

I was expecting RM5K in cash as well when I saw the title, but didn't quite felt as misled as you were, I guess.

Just to get your name only. Good lah at least u got chun toi.

Honest opinion needs to be backed up by facts.

Where do u see 5k CASH PRIZE? It clearly states 5K Open. U dunno how to read? There is a clear explanation of how much money is spent on prizes. How much more clear do you want?

If you have no ulterior motive, why diss a tourney that is good for the community?

My Name Is Raj, i have the biggest chun toi (dont believe, i can show ie back up with facts lolz) and the highest ego here!!!

I think you guys should chill, all this due to a little miss understanding.

I believe EM will be closed on the tourney day to support summit. Plus Hari and me want to play and win some cash!!! so i'm going off,
...Mike you want to open, you can jaga kedai!

I suggest that if you guys want to continue arguing...why not have a biggest chun toi tourney...i sure join one!!!  Roll Eyes
